Information for Patients and Families
Y Medical Associates, Inc. (YMA) offers home infusion therapy information for your assistance. Here is some helpful information for patients and families and what to expect from our services.
Patient Education – What to expect from Home Infusion Therapy
Y Medical Associates (YMA) offers IV therapy education and patient education resources to give patients and their families a better understanding of what to expect from our services. Our training and education is based upon the patient’s individual needs. YMA strives to foster independence in the patient and caregiver in administering prescribed therapies and using specialized equipment. Patient education begins at the time the referral is received. The course of IV training and IV therapy education is based upon the patient’s individual needs.
Achieving Your IV Therapy Education
Each patient receives a customized training packet with specific IV therapy educational resources. YMA pharmacists and nurses work collaboratively to provide the patient with comprehensive information regarding medications, supplies and equipment. A Checklist of Education and Training is completed to document the IV therapy education and the patient/caregiver competency with all necessary skills required to provide safe care in the home. The nurse monitors compliance on each subsequent visit and reinforces the IV therapy education process.
